Introduction to Chanda Creyan
Creyan’s father died in 2004 and her mother in currently running a shop at their house
selling charcoal, kapenta (small fish), groundnuts, rice and beans. Creyan is the oldest in her family of 3 girls and 1 boy. Their home is made of mud blocks with a
corrugated tin roof. They use a pit latrine about 15 metres from the house and they draw water from a communal tap 300m away. They have to pay 100 Kwacha/5 containers of water (£0.013) to help maintain the tap. Read more...
Introduction to Moses Sakala
Moses’ father died in 2003. His mother used to sell vegetables a local market but she ran out of money and is now unemployed. He is the fourth born in his family of 4 girls and 3 boys.
Moses used to live with his eldest sister until she died in 2003 at the age of 28. He moved to the streets shortly after her death to beg, wash cars and sell plastic bags, as they didn’t have money for food or school fees anymore. Read more...
